If You Have Diabetes, Would a Pancreas Transplant Help You?

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

Are you or someone close to you a diabetic?

Are you aware that a pancreas transplant is a possibility for you?

This booklet is not meant to be used as a medical book. The author is not a diabetic himself but his wife of 44 years is. He gives you a unique look into what it has been like to live with a diabetic and why they eventually decided she should have a pancreas transplant.

The hopes is by reading their personal experiences you will be better informed to make a decision that drastically changes your life.

There are many things to consider including the ongoing costs of the anti-rejection medication.

On the plus side, if the transplant is successful, you no longer need to worry about managing your diabetes. The diabetic will still get a monthly blood test and the hospital where the surgery is performed will monitor it to make certain there are no problems, but your sugar levels will remain a constant.

You may or may not be eligible for a pancreas transplant. At the moment it depends on how bad your diabetes is. He also makes mention of a new transplant possibility in the experimental stage at the moment.

This booklet should be read by every member of the family of a diabetic. Everyone in the family should know what to look for so they know when to call 911. It might save a life.

This is a very informative booklet. Read it and then discuss the possibilities with your diabetic doctor.
