Thursday, June 27th, 2013

Five Star Reviews!

“Amazing Resource –I loved this book! The recipes and suggestions for healthy eating are superb! Everyone could benefit from the information contained here. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to improve their health, as well as diabetics. You can even eat dessert!”

Great Food Guide for DiabeticsAs a sufferer of Type 2 diabetes, I’m always on the lookout for sources of good information about managing my diet and lifestyle. Kay Herson has written a smart, basic food guide for diabetics with a helpful food plan. Even better, she includes 18 recipes for breakfast meals, appetizers, lunch and dinner suggestions and even desserts. I’m cooking my first one today!”

Love the RecipesMy husband has type 2 diabetes and he loves to eat. He was raised much like the authors Mom was and food is a comfort to him. Well it’s up to me to provide tasty and healthy food for him. With these recipes and plan he will not feel deprived and not even know he’s eating healthy food. The recipes and pictures made me hungry. Great job.”

Diabetic Diet Plan – The Beginners Guide Healthy Eating & Keeping the Flavor!

My career exposes me to many individuals who have multiple medical issues relating to diabetes. Unfortunately, poor eating habits and mismanaging glucose (blood sugar) levels may have contributed to their poor health. Heart disease, loss of limbs, poor eye-sight or blindness, and kidney failure that requires dialysis, is common.

A year and one half ago my mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My family immediately envisioned the worst as far as her future health. We knew a change in her eating habits would need to improve so my family committed to helping her with a lifestyle change.

Momma was raised in rural America where carbs and sugars were part of the staples of life. A common meal was meat (usually fried) and potatoes covered with lots of gravy, biscuits or cornbread lathered with butter, sweet tea, and dessert after every meal. And evidently, vegetables were not tasty enough naturally because equal parts of bacon or some kind of pork fat was always added.

Ironically, at that time my younger sister was dealing with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy so she volunteered to come over and “taste test” the new recipes I created, she’s always been helpful that way. After hours of researching the Internet gathering data and ideas, and trying recipes… I put together this guide to help Momma and others get started with their diabetic diet plan without giving up the delicious flavors of food… only the frustration.

Beets: The Ultimate Recipe Guide – Over 25 Healthy & Delicious Recipes

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013

** Over 25 Healthy & Delicious Recipes **

We have collected 25 of the most delicious and best selling Beet recipes from around the world! Why are Beets the ultimate super food and why should you introduce them into your diet? Here are 6 quick reasons. Enjoy!

– Health Benefits –

1. Beets are nature’s Viagra
Seriously. One of the first known uses of beets was by the ancient Romans, who used them medicinally as an aphrodisiac. And that’s not just urban legend – science backs it up. Beets contain high amounts of boron, which is directly related to the production of human sex hormones.

2. Beets are high in many vitamins and minerals
Potassium, magnesium, fiber, phosphorus, iron; vitamins A, B & C; beta-carotene, beta-cyanine; folic acid. These are but a few of the many nutrients, vitamins and minerals that can be found in beets and beet greens. Beets are particularly beneficial to women whom are pregnant, as the vitamin B and iron are very beneficial to new growth cells during pregnancy and replenishing iron in the woman’s body.

3. Beets cleanse the body
They are a wonderful tonic for the liver, works as a purifier for the blood, and can prevent various forms of cancer. Nuff said, right? Tastes good and prevents cancer? Sign me up!

4. Beets help your mental health
Beets contain betaine, the same substance that is used in certain treatments of depression. It also contains trytophan, which relaxes the mind and creates a sense of well-being, similar to chocolate. Beets can also lower your blood pressure. So if you’re already steamed about not eating beets, you can get a two-fer by diving into them right away.

5. Beets are used as a stomach acid tester
How in the world does that work? Glad you asked. If you are eating a lot of beets or beet juice, and your pee turns pink, guess what? You have low stomach acid. Pee still clear? Ratchet it up and get juicing (use the greens too)! Nutritionists use beets and beet juice to test stomach acid levels, so stay ahead of the curve by adding beets to your diet now.

6. Beets are a high source of energy
At the same time they are low in calories and high in sugar (although the sugar is released into your system gradually, as opposed to chocolate). Very few foods found in the natural world are as beneficial as beets in this regard.

The Hippy Guide Liquid Diabetes Diet (Sugar Diet Illness)

Tuesday, June 25th, 2013

From your current diet, this is an EXTREMELY RADICAL LOW-CARB *LIQUID* DIET. This diet has the basic concepts of the diet used by the health conscious Hippies and Health Institutes in the 1970’s. Since it was this type of diet that eliminated all of my 14 illnesses, I think this diet is healthy and sugar diets are like taking cocaine. Even if you are currently on a low-carb diet, this diet will be very RADICAL to what you are doing.

This diet worked ALL of the time to drastically reduce insulin needs, that I witnessed at the health resorts, but did not ALWAYS completely eliminate insulin needs. I have done this type diet for many of my other illnesses that I had. I did NOT have diabetes. It is for those that want to do self help, and actual fix the problem. It was a time when they knew and cared how diet can dramatically affect our health. If you saw the movie, “Super Size Me”, that shows how fast a person’s health can fail from eating just fast food for only 30 days, you get the idea.

The FDA has not evaluated anything I have said. I have not known this solution to hurt any person that tried this remedy. The remedy is actually good for the body. The health institutes of that time did not like anything bad in the body, at all.

PLEASE DO WITH CAUTION. WHILE I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PERSON WITH DIABETES INJURED ON THIS TYPE OF DIET, THE BIOLOGY RULES CHANGE A LITTLE WITH DIABETES, AND THAT BUGS ME. I DON’T WANT ANYBODY GETTING HURT. NOT EVEN ONE PERSON, EVEN BY MISTAKE.

If this does not work, please email me. Thanks.

Exercise and Diabetes: A Clinician’s Guide to Prescribing Physical Activity

Friday, June 21st, 2013

Physical movement has a positive effect on physical fitness, morbidity, and mortality in individuals with diabetes. Although exercise has long been considered a cornerstone of diabetes management, many health care providers fail to prescribe it. In addition, many fitness professionals may be unaware of the complexities of including physical activity in the management of diabetes. Giving patients or clients a full exercise prescription that take other chronic conditions commonly accompanying diabetes into account may be too time-consuming for or beyond the expertise of many health care and fitness professionals.

The purpose of this book is to cover the recommended types and quantities of physical activities that can and should be undertaken by all individuals with any type of diabetes, along with precautions related to medication use and diabetes-related health complications. Medications used to control diabetes should augment lifestyle improvements like increased daily physical activity rather than replace them.

Up until now, professional books with exercise information and prescriptions were not timely or interactive enough to easily provide busy professionals with access to the latest recommendations for each unique patient. However, simply instructing patients to “exercise more” is frequently not motivating or informative enough to get them regularly or safely active. This book is changing all that with its up-to-date and easy-to-prescribe exercise and physical activity recommendations and relevant case studies.

Read and learn to quickly prescribe effective and appropriate exercise to everyone.

The Low Glycemic Diet (A Simple Step By Step Guide To Using The Gi Index To Lose Weight, Boost Energy And Feel Great)

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013

Ever heard of the low glycemic diet?

If not and you need to lose a few pounds, then you should take the time to read this book.

It’s not a heavy thesis or a text book written so only the top brains in the world can understand it. It’s an easy read, packed full of useful and actionable steps and techniques you can use straight away. Written by personal trainer and weight loss expert Jenny Wright, it clearly and concisely explains exactly how the low glycemic diet works and how to put it to use yourself right now to lose weight, get more energy and feel great.

The glycemic index diet is a great way to lose weight because it’s based upon a sound nutritional footing. You don’t eliminate certain foods from your diet entirely, you simply make healthier choices, which is essentially what anyone needs to do in order to get in to the shape they want to be in.

This is what this book will do for you…

It will provide you with a simple blueprint for success, a clear direction to follow which charts out your progress, no matter what level of fitness or shape of body you are now.

Once you put in to practice the techniques and tips you learn from this clever twist of a diet plan, (it’s actually more like a lifestyle plan, not really a diet) you’ll wish you’d done it years ago.

Here’s what you’ll discover in ‘The Low Glycemic Diet’…

* How the GI Diet works
* Why the low GI diet is a great tool for weight loss
* How G.I foods are ranked
* How to instantly send your energy levels SKYROCKETING!
* How to lose weight

Perhaps the biggest benefit of following the low glycemic diet is that unlike virtually every other diet out there… it’s a diet that you can follow for life. It’s not off the wall or controversial… just sound nutritional practice.

The most common health benefits of the low GI Diet are…

* lower blood sugar levels
* lower cholesterol levels
* less chance of suffering from heart disease
* lower blood pressure
* less cravings

By keeping more control of your blood sugar levels you’ll finally be able to lose weight easily. Once you get off the sugar roller coaster ride, you’ll crave less sweetness and dramatically reduce your appetite.

Because you won’t be getting the highs, you’ll also be able to side step the lows which means your energy levels will get a boost and stay elevated longer so you’ll feel like being more active… this could be the perfect solution for you.

Ultimately the best way of getting in to great shape, having a flat tummy, firmer thighs, more energy and a radiant glow is by eating a well balanced diet. The low GI diet is the PERFECT solution for this

Discover how you can get these benefits and more right now. You can have the information in front of you in less than a minute, simply scroll to the top right of this page and click on the buy now button…

Dr. Bernstein’s Diabetes Solution A Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Levels

Sunday, June 2nd, 2013

Bernstein (Diabetes Type Two, Prentice Hall, 1990), a Type I diabetic, begins his book with testimonials from 14 patients praising his methods for controlling diabetes. His most radical departure from established medical practice is his diet plan, which recommends high fat, high protein, and a minimum of carbohydrates advice that conflicts with that given by the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. Bernstein’s exercise regimen also differs from standard practice by advocating anaerobic over aerobic exercise. There is a brief overview of diabetes, and specific supplies and brand names of products for diabetes are recommended. Sick days, the emotional challenges of the disease, pregnancy, and sex are either not included or barely mentioned. Richard Beaser’s The Joslin Guide to Diabetes (LJ 7/95) is a far superior choice. Paula Deen’s Southern Cooking Bible: The New Classic Guide to Delicious Dishes with More Than 300 Recipes

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Hi, y’all!

This book is my proudest achievement so far, and I just have to tell y’all why I am so excited about it. It’s a book of classic dishes, dedicated to a whole new generation of cooks—for every bride, graduate, and anyone who has a love of a great Southern meal. My family is growing and expanding all the time. We’re blessed with marriages and grandbabies, and so sharing these recipes for honest, down-home dishes feels like passing a generation’s worth of stovetop secrets on to my family, and yours.

I’ve been cooking and eating Southern food my whole life, and I can tell you that every meal you make from this book will be a mouthful of our one-of-akind spirit and traditions. These recipes showcase the diversity and ingenuity of Southern cuisine, from Cajun to Low-Country and beyond, highlighting the deep cultural richness of our gumbos and collards, our barbecues and pies. You may remember a few beloved classics from The Lady & Sons, but nearly all of these recipes are brand-new—and I think you’ll find that they are all mouthwateringly delicious. It is, without a doubt, a true Southern cooking bible.

I sincerely hope that this book will take its place in your kitchen for many years to come, as I know it will in mine. Here’s to happy cooking—and the best part, happy eating, y’all!

Best dishes,

Diabetic Diet Plan – The Beginners Guide to Healthy Eating & Keeping the Flavor!

Monday, May 6th, 2013

My career exposes me to many individuals who have multiple medical issues relating to diabetes. Unfortunately, poor eating habits and mismanaging glucose (blood sugar) levels may have contributed to their poor health. Heart disease, loss of limbs, poor eye-sight or blindness, and kidney failure that requires dialysis, is common.

A year and one half ago my mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My family immediately envisioned the worst as far as her future health. We knew a change in her eating habits would need to improve so my family committed to helping her with a lifestyle change.

My mother, as bright and intelligent as she was at 67 years of age, (sorry Momma) had never in her life owned a cell phone or ever operated a computer, let alone own one. So when she asked me for a little help in finding some new diabetic recipes that actually would taste good and have some flavor, and not taste like cardboard like the doctor’s pamphlet recipes, I agreed.

I could see the frustration she was experiencing. She lost weight due partly to eating a balanced diet, and in part to not eating much at all because everything tasting so bland. I needed to find a starting point for her, to equip her with some basic tools that would define which foods to seek out and which ones to run from, how to meal plan to meet her nutritional needs, and feel as though she was able to make Daddy happy. And, what could she order when Daddy took her out to eat?

Ironically, at that time my younger sister was dealing with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy so she volunteered to come over and “taste test” the new recipes I created, she’s always been helpful that way. After hours of researching the Internet gathering data and ideas, and trying recipes… I put together this guide to help Momma and others get started with their diabetic diet plan without giving up the delicious flavors of food… only the frustration.

The Quick Start Guide To Pre-Diabetes

Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013

Have You Or Someone You Love Been Diagnosed With Diabetes?

If You Answered Yes Then You Need This Book!

Overview:

The most recent data from the National Diabetes Fact Sheet (2011) indicates there are an estimated 25.8 million children and adults in the United States who have some form of diabetes and 79 million American have pre-diabetes. The estimated numbers are growing annually; in large part because diabetes or pre-diabetes is linked to America’s other serious health problem: obesity.

Roughly two out of every three American adults are within a weight range that can be classified as overweight or obese. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that 35.7 percent of adults in the United States were obese in 2009. Given the current trend it is expected that the number of people who will develop diabetes or pre-diabetes is going to continue to grow.

My goal with this e-book is to give you some straightforward information to help answer some of your questions. Here are three key points I hope you take-away from reading this e-book:

*You do not have to change everything about the way you eat or live: eating and lifestyle changes are best made in small steps.. one at a time.

*You have many more options of foods you can eat, even though you may have heard otherwise.

*Learning more about your diabetes or pre-diabetes, one step at a time will enable you to start taking charge of your own health and bring about a positive outcome.

If you need a quick guide to easy lifestyle changes to turn your pre-diabetes around then this book is for you!

The Glycemic Index Diet Simplified: A Concise and Easy to Read Guide on the G.I Glycemic Index Diet

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

Let’s face it: counting calories is tough, takes the fun out of life, and makes you seem extremely unsociable. Besides, who but a nutritionist can really do it correctly?

That’s where the Glycemic Index Diet comes in.

This was developed in the 1980s by Dr. David J. Jenkins, a nutrition professor at the University of Toronto, to help diabetics manage their diets and their weight. It was further added to by two Australian professors whose work will be discussed further in chapter 3.

So now you’re thinking: “but I’m not a diabetic!”

(Unless you are, of course)

Regardless of whether or not you are a diabetic, the Glycemic Index Diet is great for shedding those pounds with a minimum of fuss, though effort on your part is required, of course.

The Glycemic Index (or “GI” for short), by the way, is nothing more than a way of measuring the effect the carbohydrate content of certain foods affect your body. Specifically, it determines how these impact your blood sugar levels, which in turn affects how much energy you have, your mood, and yes, your weight.

What it does not do is to consider the fat or caloric content of food.

This is good news. This is very good news, because it means that the range of things you can eat just got a whole lot bigger than other diets provide.

Sounds good?

The advantage of the GI Diet is that it involves a very simple eating plan composed largely of lean meat, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The things your mother told you were good for you, and she was right!

*******************************************

…So, are you searching for an Easy and Straightforward way to Learn about The Glycemic Index Diet?

Well your search ends here… “The Glycemic Index Diet, Simplified” is an efficient answer to the most common questions related to the (G.I) Glycemic Index Diet.

Note: This book is shorter than most other Glycemic Index Diet Books or Dummies Books.
Reason: I have removed a lot of the “Fluff” that usually fill up some of these books and get straight to the point (actually I’ve replaced it with a little humor and maybe a little rant here and there, *wink). This is not a recipe book but I have included a few useful meal plans to help you get started…also, there’s no long autobiography… (After all you are really only interested in learning about the Glycemic Index Diet…right?).

Another thing…if you are easily offended then this may not be for you, see…I am what you can call a “straight talker”…so you will either love my tone or you won’t (although quietly inside I’m really hoping that you do love it 🙂

*******************************************

In this Concise and Simplistic Book, you will Discover:

–> What the Glycemic Index really is
–> How the G.I is “ranked”
–> Why you should go low on the GI
–> The kind of foods that are on the GI diet
–> Exactly how low you should go
–> The benefits of a low G.I diet for weight loss
–> How the GI Diet works
–> Phases of the Glycemic Index Diet
–> Foods with a low GI content
–> Computing the GI of an entire meal
–> Sample one-week meal plan + Other meal ideas
–> How to take control of yourself and Listen to your body
–> How to Stick to the low GI when shopping
–> Minding the low GI when eating out
–> Strategies to keep those pounds off
–> Simple Exercises that work (Without going to the Gym)

*****So, if you are ready to Discover those Facts then…Grab a Copy of my book now…I Guarantee you will be happy you did!…if you aren’t then I will do your house chores for 1 week………(nah, just kidding…buy the book…you’ll learn loads and have fun doing it)… See you on the inside 🙂

All New Atkins Diet Guide: This Ultimate Handbook On Diet Will Teach You Atkins Diet Basics, Excellent Ideas On Atkins Diet Program, Atkins Diet And … Atkins Diet Induction And A Whole Lot More!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2013

The Atkins diet is not a new phenomenon. The diet first appeared in the late 1970s and has grown popularity in recent years in response to the low-fat diet craze. As dieters had trouble with low-fat plans, they searched for a new solution and Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution book found a new audience. A lot of people have jumped on the Atkins bandwagon and there has been a lot of hype as a result. But what are the basic principles of the Atkins diet? The Atkins diet is based on a theory of why we get fat. According to Dr. Atkins, the over-consumption of carbohydrates and simple sugars leads to weight gain. The way your body processes the carbohydrates you eat have more to do with your waistline than the amount of fat or calories that you consume. In his book, Atkins outlines a phenomenon called “insulin resistance.” He theorizes that many overweight people have cells that do not work correctly. This handbook also includes: Atkins And Appetite Suppression Atkins And Diabetes Atkins And Exercise Atkins And Intestinal Problems Atkins And Ketosis Atkins And Sugar Cravings Atkins And Unprocessed Foods Atkins Cost Saving Tips Atkins Criticism
