Saturday, June 1st, 2013

In late 2012, author AJ Garrett was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. In the weeks following, he became concerned at the limited amount of quality log books for monitoring blood glucose testing. As a result, this log book was born. Within this log book, you will find the generic categories for multiple daily tests but also places to document your food intake. The Diabetic Diary: 2001

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

Diabetes is a serious disease that can lead to severe complications including blindness, heart attack, kidney failure, foot amputations and more. The best way to avoid these complications is through a complex regimen of frequent examinations, laboratory testing and treatments as defined by ADA position and consensus statements. Yet it has been suggested that as few as 20% of physicians follow recommended practice guidelines! The Diabetic Diary was designed by a physician-scientist who saw a need for a comprehensive, yet easy to use manual to guide diabetic patients and their physicians through the complex maze of diabetic medical management. The Diabetic Diary guides the diabetic patient through his/her yearly health maintenance regimen via concise, easy to understand summaries of current ADA recommendations. Space is provided to record medical history, medications, home sugar monitoring, clinical laboratory testing, physical examinations and immunizations. This book is organized for easy entry and retrieval of information by both patient and physician, making The Diabetic Diary the perfect companion to accompany any diabetic patient to all physician encounters.

Diary of Malachi- Six Year Old Diabetic- type 1

Monday, October 29th, 2012

Malachi first found out her had diabetes on his 6th Birthday. We had planned to go to Chuck E. Cheese on his Birthday, but instead we mad a trip to the clinic. Malachi was using the bathroom alot. I thought that was very unusual. I thought he had a bladder infection. So, I took him early to the clinic. They told me his sugar level was up to 1000. My heart dropped. They immediately told me to take him to Rainbow Babies and Children…I wanted to take him to the nearest hospital. The nurse said the surrounding hospitals did not have the proper team to take care of him. So, I rushed to the hospital. I got there as quick as I could. Soon as I got there I told the receptionest he had a high glucose level. The nurse rushed him back and gave hm and I.V. I was still trying to accept the fact that he has diabetes…I cried and cried…Malachi was admitted to the hospital. he stayed for several days. The team at the hospital taught me what I needed to know in order to take care of him. I was taught about the diet he had to be on. They also taught myself and my two eldest children how to give him insulin shots. Malachi was in good spirits the entire time. I don’t think he realized how serious diabetes is. The hospital gave him a little Birthday party and they gave him a few presents. We did go to Chuck E. Cheese when he was released from the hospital a few day later. It has been 4 months since his diagnosis. Malachi has had some good day and some bad days. He has sneaked a few snacks and that took his sugar sky high. Malachi now realizes the glucose monitor will tell on him everytime. Malachi has learned how to test himself. He isn’t old enough to give himself shots yet. He is learning the routine of what we have to do to keep him healthy. He drinks a lot of water now. The entire family is on a special diet now. We all eat healthier and wiser. I am coping with his diabetes on a daily basis. Everyday is different. I’m teaching him the importance of healthy eating and the importance of staying healthy. Hopefully when he is older he will keep the same habbits of taking good care of himself. The diary of Malachi will not end here. Until next time….

Monday, September 24th, 2012

My daughter and I believe that the foods we eat have a big impact on our health. Thus, we are dedicated to creating nutritious dishes that taste delicious and showing others how to integrate flavorful meals into their diet for improved health. This is why we wrote “a mother and daughter diary of raw food recipes for beginners.” In this book, we dispel the myth that nutritious meals are difficult to prepare, unsatisfying, and bland. Instead we illustrate how easy it is to create and integrate healthy foods into our lifestyle that are satisfying, full of amazing flavors, and require minimal time to prepare. We also share our experiences with raw foods, the health benefits of many of the ingredients used in the dishes and the step-by-step instructions on how to prepare over 50 raw and vegan meals that are packed with the nutrients our bodies need to remain healthy.

DietMinder Personal Food & Fitness Journal (A Food and Exercise Diary)

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

The DietMinder is a deluxe food diary with plenty of room to record quantities and food counts (calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc.) of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. A special area for daily totals makes it easy to see at a glance how you are doing. Each “day” consists of two pages with space for exercise details, too. There are other helpful sections in the book such as the “Favorite Foods” listing which provides food counts on over 100 common foods and has space to add your own favorite food information. The “Goals” section of the DietMinder is also important. Here you can list your starting statistics, state your goals, and even paste a “before” picture. This is a great way to stay motivated!

The DietMinder can be used with virtually any food or fitness program. It has been proven that keeping a food journal helps people focus and stay more committed to improving their eating habits. It really works!
