Value for money

For a few dollars more than the price of 100 strips, you get the Contour Next EZ Meter, a cheaply made carrying case, one lancing tool, 100 lancets and 100 alcohol prep pads. For those who are wondering I can also confirm that neither was there any control solution (a liquid that helps test the accuracy of the meter) nor a “starter” sample of 10 strips included with this kit.

this is a great starter kit!

This is a great kit for someone just diagnosed with diabetes. It shipped fast and arrived on time. However, it did not come with the Lancet device shown in the picture. It came with a lower quality one and I had to purchase the one pictured separately.

Overall great value and pretty good quality

I had gestational diabetes and this was far cheaper than filling the prescription at my local pharmacy. It had everything I needed to check my blood sugar. The lancing device did not last, however. I ended up buying another kit, when it was time to get new test strips. Overall great value and pretty good quality. The bag is just a thin simple carry bag. It does the job.

Good product and good value

Very nice starter set. when I received the kit the lancing device was replaced by a different one than as shown. I had to return and ordered the correct lancing device. The one sent originally had a round rotating top. The top had an adjustment for the depth of the prick but each time you removed the top or replaced it after inserting a new lancet , the adjustment would slip. Instructions say not to use alcohol pads prior to use so I am unsure why there were included in the kit.

cheap but reliable

Great meter but it didn’t come with the Lancet posted. Otherwise I would of given 5 stars.

This is an excellent kit, and while I do not have diabetes, I’m a scientist, this kit is very easy to use and also extremely compact. I tested my own blood sugar several times in close succession over multiple days and before and after meals and also while fasting. The meter has a very low standard deviation I found. with two tests in wich I took 5 readings within the same minute and returned standard deviations of less than 3mg/dl and with the second test less than 5mg/dl. Noting that the second test was after a meal while the first test was after fasting for greater than 8 hours. These results are well within my tolerance of 10 mg/dl for this type of measurement. Due to recent medical issues, I had to receive three metabolic blood panels every other day recently, and I used this opportunity to test the absolute accuracy of the meter. I did not have metr set up on the first day unfortunately, but on the second my blood was drawn for the test at 11:45am and an returned a result of 138 mg/dl. At 12:04 9 minutes later I measured my glucose at 155 mg/dl. This was an acceptable difference due to the medication I was receiving in those 9 minutes and I had eaten about an hour or so before. On the day of my final blood panel, I fasted and took many readings within a much closer time to having my blood drawn. My blood was drawn at 10:15 and returned a result of 97 gm/dl. At the same time the meter returned a reading of 91 mg/dl and 4 minutes later a reading or 97 mg/dl and the 2 minutes later a reading of 94 mg/dl. This indicates a standard deviation of less than 3 mg/dl from the known level. With the blood test I essentially made my self into a giant control solution.
